David Nightingale of Chromasia gives a really good discussion on these topics here

You should also check out his photoblog, as there are some absolutely stunning images, particularly the portraits of his children imho.

I've read that since he posted it! It is very in depth and covers a lot!

I wish he'd hurry and post another tutorial freebie. As much as I enjoy learning, I feel kind of weird paying $10 for someone else tips...but he is definately an amazing photographer!

He has some great stuff when he goes out with John Washington - I think he's first name is John...
